I love the 4th of July for so many reasons. There is the food, the sociableness, and best of all, the fireworks. When I was younger, we would always go down the road to a friend’s house to shoot off fireworks. The boys were older than me but I loved help set them off. They shoot up in the sky and burst into a million sparkling pieces and I was in awe of their beauty. Everything has always seemed so much more magical under sparkling lights. As I grew older, I was able to go to a few 4th of July parties with some friends. These always felt like a special adventure because I was able to see how others celebrated the holiday. While the fireworks mostly stayed the same, the food was always different. There would be the classics: Hot dogs, chips, potato salad. But sometimes there were new surprises like homemade ice cream and blueberry/strawberry cheesecake bars!
Since the 4th of July is coming up in a week, I thought it would be fun to share some 4th of July recipes to take to your party. And since everyone wants to look good at the party, I’m sharing some of my picks to wear that night!
As much as I love savory food, even I like something sweet every now and then!
It’s always best to start strong with your theme.
It’s hot outside! Make sure everyone has something cold to drink!
